Destination Imagination Team Shine in Global Finals, Kansas City, USA, May 2023

Destination Imagination 2022 2023

7 Directions of Khaos

Abhiruchi, Pratosh, Jericho, Myeq, Sophia, Kimmy, and Rheana made up this year’s team for destination Imagination. Arham was originally in the team until we realised he was too old for the elementary grade, unfortunately. All of the students were new to Destination Imagination. Destination Imagination is a creative, team-focused, STEAM competition where students have to work together to solve problems and challenges. All teams get to choose a main challenge and also have to participate in an instant problem-solving challenge. The team chose to do the improvisational challenge ‘Showdown’ as their main challenge.

Their first competition was the Regional Finals. We competed with 44 Ukrainian Teams in the Regional competition online. It was an honour and a privilege to be included in the Ukrainian tournament. We got to know some of the students online and joined workshops and challenges with them. It must have been very difficult for them as sometimes they had to postpone the Zoom meeting as they were being bombed.

We managed to get first place in our elementary improvisational team challenge at the Ukrainian Regional and were invited to compete in the ‘Global Finals’ in Kansas City, Missouri, U.S.A, representing Indonesia! At the time of writing this, we haven’t left yet ….the tournament is from May 17th to May 24th. 6 team members are going ( Pratosh, Jericho, Myeq, Sophia, Kimmy, and Rheana), with their parent or parents and Mr. Ian as our forever patient team manager. We are so excited. Destination Imagination has helped us to be more confident and to develop team work and collaborative skills. We can’t wait for the Global finals!
