Launch of the new RPA Website
Hooray!! We’re proud to finally present our new Royal Primary Academy website. The site has been in the making for over half a year and is a wonderful feat of design, vision and especially collaboration and synergy across all layers of the school.
In May 2016 we decided that the previous website was no longer up to the standard that could be expected of an international school. The website had been outsourced years ago and as a result it was very difficult to update the website regularly, let alone redesign it. The website was also difficult to find online unless you knew the url or were linked to the website from elsewhere on the web. Our new website has been developed 100% in-house and we are in complete control of it. This exposes our school to endless possibilities and can be seen as the next step in the digital evolution of RPA.
When we set out to design the website, our main goal was to create an online community which our students, parents and school staff visit regularly in order to keep in touch with what’s happening at RPA. Our new website also needed to be a place to showcase the achievements of our wonderful students and their learning journey throughtout their career at Royal Primary Academy. Finally, we hope that the new website will convince more families from all over the world to become a part of our thriving RPA family.
It has to be said though that the website is currently still in ‘beta’ or even ‘alpha’ stage. Many pages are still under construction and some content is only temporary. But we wanted to put the website out there in an unfinished state for various reasons. To begin with, we wanted to gauge the reactions of our community and receive feedback to help us improve the user-experience. Also, even in an unfinished state, the new website is already much more informative than our previous website. So why wait.
During the next stage of development the pages that are still ‘under construction’ will be completed. Then we’re going to optimize the website for search engines and finally we’re going to put the website in the hands of our teachers, staff and students. In the mean time, we’ll also organize a Webdesign Enrichment Program for our P3-P6 students in which they can design their own website using the same tools that were used to development this website. We can’t wait to see the results of their work and to share their sites with our readers.
We hope you will enjoy the new website, now and in the future. Please let us know what you think in the comments below and don’t forget to like and share by clicking the social icons below. :)
